Title: Loops, Spin and String structures
Abstract:
I will discuss some aspects of the differential geometry and topology of the loop space of a manifold. In particular I will review work of Stolz and Teichner, Waldorf and Redden and joint work with Chris Kottke showing that the existence of appropriately smooth and equivariant loop-Spin structures is equivalent to the existence of corresponding String structures on the manifold.
