According to one website, Henry Crichlow was born in January 1801, Saint Michael, Barbados, died 13 May 1881, Napanee, Ontario, Canada. He was reportedly the son of Henry Crichlow and Lucy (Cobham) Crichlow of Barbados and England. However, Lucy Crichlow nee Cobham died at Bath in England in January 1801 aged '65'.

He married (1) Charlotte Pierrepont (1800-1839), and (2) Martha Maria Lyndon (1814-?), both of Barbados.
Charlotte Pierrepont was born 1800 in Barbados, the daughter of the sugarcane planter, Thomas Pierrepont and his wife Eleanor Ann Butler.

Father of 8 daughters and 2 sons by his first wife, and a son by his second wife, all children born in Barbados. Guardian of his sister-in-law's only surviving child, Charlotte Maria Dalby.

"Henry Crichlow immigrated with his daughters, his ward, and his second family from Barbados to Philadelphia, PA, where he had relatives. They arrived in the fall of 1850… A merchant seeking good opportunities, Henry and his family moved yet further north to Canada, prior to the 1851 Census (taken in late spring 1852). The family resided first in Fergus, Nichol Township, Wellington County, Ontario before later settling at Napanee, Richmond Township, Lennox & Addington County, Ontario, where in 1881 Henry passed away."

Details of the children can be found on the site.

  • EA - Earliest Known Association
  • ED - Association End Date
  • EY - Association End Year
  • LA - Latest Known Association

Son → Father
Notes →
This is tentative. Henry Crichlow's wife Lucy nee Cobham died at Bath in 1801 aged '65': if that is true, she could not have been the mother of Henry Crichlow...
Son-in-law → Father-in-law
Notes →
This is probable. Henry Crichlow (1801-81) married Charlotte...
