Biography

  1. Probably William Eccles, merchant, son of James Eccles (1775-1842) and Elizabeth nee Robertson. Married Emily Frazer Dick, daughter of David Dick, late of Galshiel in Ross-shire, 23/04/1938 in Glasgow. Emigrated to Trinidad in the late 1830s.

  2. Another William Eccles, son of William Eccles (1760-1846) and Mary nee Robertson, described as a Captain in the 82nd Regiment of Foot according to a trust set up by his father in 1846, was the first cousin of the William Eccles of this entry.
