1798 - 1850
Trustee of Robert Dennistoun, and probably son of Robert Dennistoun (of George & Robert Dennistoun & Co., q.v.) and Anne Penelope Campbell, his co-trustee.
Henry Paul appointed Trustee upon the sequestrated estates of James Robert Dennistoun merchant in Glasgow; James Robert Dennistoun made an offer of composition upon the debts owing by him, which was entertained but required a further meeting to confirm it. Confirmed June 1828.
James Robert Dennistoun, son of Robert Dennistoun, married Barbara Wilson Macredie, daughter of Robert Macredie, in Stirling, Scotland, 19/07/1834.
Estates of James Robert Dennistoun Merchant, agent and broker of Glasgow now deceased were sequestrated 17/03/1851.
The cotton-broking (and banking) firm of James & Alexander Dennistoun, which included the MPs Alexander (Dumbarton 1834-1835) and John (Glasgow 1837-1847) appears unconnected with the firm of Robert Dennistoun(s) and his family.
