Son of John Brandford Lane (1789-1829) and grandson of John Lane (d. 1802) and Mary Elvira Brandford.
Baptised St Michael Barbados 17/06/1812. Married Anne Cock 13/07/1833 at St Andrew Farnham Surrey.
Apparently Charles Brandford Lane was the uncle of Lucy, Mrs W. K. Clifford, novelist and friend of Henry James, who certainly identified John Brandford Lane as her grandfather.
He was given as of Castle Grant and Clermont in the context of his daughter's wedding to Capt Frederick Morris in 1854.
Baptism in Geneva, Switzerland, 15/05/1836 of Agnes, daughter of Charles Brandford and Anne Lane. Death "at Geneva, on the 21st of Sept. Charles Brandford Lane. Esq. of the island of Barbadoes."
T71/895 Barbados claim no. 488 (Clermont); T71/899 Barbados claim no. 4073 (Castle Grant plantation).
