Biography

Identified in a deed of 1792 as one of the debtors of Lane, Fraser owing some £8000 secured on New River and Gingerland in Nevis, when he given of Malton in Yorkshire. His will, when he was late of Malton now residing at Islington, made in 1800 and proved 02/11/1802, was silent on 'slave-property'. He left in trust (his trustee was Edward Woollery) £100 to Elizabeth Armstrong the daughter of William Armstrong of Sealby in Yorkshire and £300 for her three children. He left his linen and plate to his daughters Nancy and Harriott, and closed the will with the comment that he was content to die 'as it gives me great pleasure and satisfaction to know that my children are very handsomely provided for.'
