Biography

Son-in-law of James Smith of Nevis (q.v.), son of Hugh Baillie of Dochfour and brother and partner of Evan Baillie (q.v.). He was in Nevis in the 1750s.

  1. Will of Alexander Baillie heritable proprietor of Dochfour proved 26/08/1799. He left £20,000 to Alexander his natural son with Janet Chisholm (identified in the will as his cousin) and £5000 each to his two daughters with her, Emilia and Janet. He left his estates in Lowland on the island of Nevis half to his brother Evan and half to the daughters of his late brother James Baillie (q.v., under James Baillie MP of Bedford Square and Ealing Grove).
