Biography

Early owner of land in Dominica, original purchaser of Lot No. 62 (280 acres) in St Joseph.

  1. Richard Iles, son of Richard Iles of Montserrat matriculated St John's Oxford 25/07/1766 aged 19. Vere Langford Oliver identified this man as Member of the Council of Montserrat in 1774 and President 1792-1798. This Richard Iles, born c. 1747, was more probably the son or grandson of the original purchaser on Dominica, rather than the purchaser himself.
