Sources

Findagrave memorial no. 137126332 with a transcription of his memorial inscription. The same webpage gives him (without sources) as head overseer on the St John estates of the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel, owner of Buttals in St George, who married Anne Sieuzac in Christchurch, Barbados, 15/05/1738, and father of Angel (1739-), Elizabeth (1741-), Charles (1742-), Grant (1744-1821), Ann (1746-1781), Edmund (1748-), Jane (1750-), Mary (1755-) and Lucy Reynold. The children's births match baptism records in Familysearch.org, Barbados, Church Records, 1637-1849 [database online] - Angel (born 1739 and baptised 1740), Ann (born 1745 and baptised in 1746), Edward (rather than Edmund, baptised 1748) with also Cholmley (possibly Charles, son of Grant and Alice but perhaps a mistranscription as the parish register is a copy). Genealogies of Barbados Families p. 49 gives Grant Elcock (1690-1744) and his wife Ann Sieuzac as the parents of Dr Grant Elcock (born 1744) who married Elizabeth Reynoldia Alleyne.

We are grateful to Stanley R. Criens for his assistance with compiling this entry.
