John Foster Barham the elder

???? - 1822

Biography

London West India merchant, former partner in Plummer and Barham.

  1. Will of John Foster Barham of Exeter Devon [made in 1821] proved 24/04/1823. In the will he rehearsed the will of his father Joseph Foster Barham I, under which the latter had settled £10,000 upon John Foster Barham (under the name of John Barham in that will), of which £3000 had been advanced to John Foster Barham in his life: he left the remainder and his residuary estate for life to his daughters Emily Harden, Lucy Livius and Mildred Grinfield. He provided that if his daughters or their husbands sought to open [i.e. challenge] the accounts of Plummer, Barham and Plummer (which had ended in 1816) or the arrangements John Foster Barham had made with his brother Joseph Foster Barham [II] they were to lose their inheritances under his will.
