  1. Owner of enslaved people in St Thomas-in-the-East, Jamaica, from at least 1796 to 1798, while a minor. Accounts Produce were filed for her in these years for "jobbing" and "negro hire" by her guardians John and Jennet McDermott. She may be the daughter of Dr George Troup of St Thomas-in-the-East whose estate was valued for probate in 1782: no baptism has been found for Agnes Joanna but an Eliza Mary, age 21 months, daughter of Dr George Troup, physician of the Bath, and Janet McDermeit, was baptised in St Thomas-in-the-East 25/05/1781.

  2. Agnes Joanna Troup married Henry Darlot in St James, Piccadilly, London, in 1800. They had three children baptised at St Stephen Walbrook: Henry (1801), Peter (born and baptised 1802) and Johnston (born and baptised 1803). Peter was buried aged 10 weeks in St Stephen, Walbrook, in November 1802. They had six more children: Agnes Joanna (baptised at St Mary, Finchley, 1805); Margaret Rosa (born 1807 and baptised at Pangbourne, Berkshire, 1809); George Troup (born and baptised at Pangbourne, 1809); James Monkton (born and baptised at St Mary, Finchley, 1811); Thomasina (baptised St Mary, Finchley, 1813, residence Finchley, Henry's profession "Clerk at the Post Office"); William Augustus (born 08/12/1813 but baptised 1821 at Finchley, same residence, Henry's profession "Gentleman").

  3. In 1841, Henry and Agnes Darlot were living at Codrington Place, Brighton, with their daughter Agnes and two female servants. In 1851 she was widowed, age 70, Fundholder, born St Thomas-in-the-East, Jamaica, living at Blackheath Park with her daughter Agnes, two female and one male servants.

  4. The will of Agnes Joanna Darlot late of Blackheath in the County of Kent widow deceased who died 23/11/1866 at Blackheath was proved by the oaths of Agnes Joanna Darlot of Blackheath spinster and Margaret Rosa Moore of Blackheath, widow, the daughters, executrixes. Effects under £2,000.
