London Army agent, co-claimant (apparently unsuccessfully) with his partner William Barron (q.v.) for compensation in St Lucia, in pursuit of a debtor for whom a slave-owner in St Lucia had stood security.

The will of Archibald David Stewart, army agent of Chiswick Mall and 4 Upper Charles Street was written in 1835 and proved in 1836 by his widow Sarah as guardian of his son and sole executor David James Stewart (student at Trinity College, Cambridge at the time Archibald wrote his will). Archibald David Stewart of Chiswick was buried at St Nicholas, Chiswick, 21/03/1836 aged 45 years.

To my adored son David James Stewart, now a student of Trinity College Cambridge, all my property, bonds, bills, my leasehold house at 26 Parliament Street and Chiswick Mall, my share in the house of A. D. Stewart and Company, 4 Upper Charles Street, Parliament Street, my shares in the Scottish Union Insurance Company and every other description of property whatsoever on condition of paying all my just debts and funeral expenses and paying to his mother an annuity of £50 for life and also to her a sum of £50 as soon as convenient after m decease. The annuity to be voluntary on his part and beyond the power or control of any individual or court of law.

David James Stewart to be my sole heir and universal executor. Reversion failing children of his body lawfully begotten to the children of my brother John Stewart of Ballechen, Prince Edwards Island.

Proved 07/06/1836 by Sarah Stewart, widow, guardian of David James Stewart, a minor. Proved 10/09/1838 by David James Stewart who has now attained the age of 21 years.
