John Ross was co-heir with his cousin Charles Ross under the will of Robert Ross of Henrietta Street and Bybrook, together with two of Robert Ross's natural children, when he was described as Lt-Col. John Ross and Col. John Ross. LBS has tentatively identified him as Lt-General John Ross, Lt-Commander of Guernsey, whose will proved 07/06/1843 (which left his property to his three daughters) shows Charles Ross as an executor.

Jamaican-born widow of a prominent slave-owner; resident in Britain following the death of her husband in 1818. Accused - and acquitted - of the cruel treatment of some enslaved people whom she brought to Britain with her.
Document comprises 4 parts, written recto and verso across 5 folios: 1. An inventory and valuation of enslaved persons at Windsor Estate, St Elizabeth parish, Jamaica, 1814. 2. An inventory and valuation of enslaved persons at Williamsfield settlement, St Elisabeth parish, Jamaica, 1814. 3. An inventory of animals at Windsor Estate, St Elizabeth parish, Jamaica, 1814. 4. A cover note outlining the contents of the document.
