Joseph Peters

???? - 1773

Biography

Of Truro in Cornwall. Co-residuary heir with his brother Rev. Jonathan Peters of their uncle Thomas Peters of St Catherine (q.v.).

  1. Thomas Peter's nephews and heirs were Joseph Peters Bachelor of Physick of Truro Cornwall whose will [made in 1770] was proved 21/10/1773 and Rev. Jonathan Peters clerk of St Clement Cornwall whose will was proved 07/05/1789. In the will of the former, Joseph Peters recapitulated that he and his brother were residuary legatees of their uncle Thomas Peters and said that the greatest part of such real and personal estate 'remains undiminished in the hands possession or power of Henry Rennalls of Jamaica.' He left 3/20th of his moiety of Thomas Peters's residuary estate to his wife Philippa; 6/20ths to his brother John; 3/20ths to his sister Buckingham; and 1/20th to his sister Mary Peters [the remainder implicitly formed part of his own residuary estate which he left to his brother Jonathan, after legacies including £1000 to his niece, Jonathan's daughter Elizabeth]. Jonathan Peters' own will is silent on the Jamaica property.
