- Will of Mary Lyon otherwise Allardice, widow of Dundee Angus proved 01/10/1814. In the will she described herself as widow of John Allardice, surgeon in the HEIC. She said that the had been induced in exchange for an annuity of £500 p.a. to assign to her brother David Lyon merchant to London her half-share in the residuary estate of their brother James Lyon of Jamaica, an arrangement that she now contested and wanted her trustees to contest. She left legacies totalling several thousand pounds to family members, not including David's family.
