Biography

  1. Will of Anne Wilhelmina or Ann Darling heretofore Dalzell of Spanishtown Jamaica proved 12/03/1838. In the will she said that she had £4000 in the funds and £1000 currency in Buttalls plantation in Barbados 'and I am entitled to £2000 on the death of my mother'. She left these assets to her husband Charles Henry Darling for life and then to her son Charles Henry Hay Darling. If the latter died before her husband, she left her husband the assets except for the £1000 on Buttalls, which she left to her brother William Dalzell and her sister Mary Elizabeth Dalzell. Effects sworn under £5,000.

  2. Her husband Charles Henry Darling (1809-1870) was later Governor of Jamaica and then (from 1863) of Victoria.
