Mrs Caroline Daun (née Hamilton)

Biography

Daughter of Rev. William Vaughan Hamilton, who settled enslaved people in trust for his children Shakespeare Hamilton, Mrs Eliza Singer and Mrs Caroline Daun at some point between 1820 and 1823.

Caroline married James Daun (1794-1823) in 1820. He was a rector of the Westmorland School, Jamaica and trained as a surgeon. Their son, Captain James Hamilton Daun (1821-1869), became a major, then captain, in the Indian Army.
