Elizabeth Barrett Williams (née Waite)

???? - 1834

Biography

Widow of Martin Williams senior (q.v.) and then partner of Samuel Barrett (d. 1794), with whom she had four children.

  1. Will of Elizabeth Barrett Williams widow of Milverton Warwickshire proved 23/12/1834. In the will she said that she had a life interest in a wharf at Montego Bay, and that the 'slaves' thereon were claimed by her son Martin Williams, who also owed her £7000. She forgave him £4000 of the principal (but not the unpaid interest) on condition he waived any claims on her estate including on the enslaved people: and she manumitted two 'mulatto' enslaved men named Billy Waite and Robert Waite. Her residuary heir was her son George Goodin Barrett.
