Biography

Will of Joseph Hiscox merchant of London proved 07/06/1734. He left in trust [his trustees included his brother-in-law Julines Her[r[ing], Joseph Freame banker of London and Francis Acres of Derby] his property in Jamaica, including enslaved people, to hold until his son, also Joseph, was 21. He left £2800 and his eight shares in the Brass Battery and Wire Co. of Bristol to his son Robert. He also had shares in the Ember Mills Company, Hoopers Glass House, 'in the Iron Foundery of Bristol and Wales', and the 'Swanzey Copper Works.'
