Son of James Wilson, farmer in Bankhead, Clatt, Aberdeenshire, and his wife Isobel nee Gordon. Baptism not found. One of the legatees in the will of his uncle John Gordon of Kingston (died c. 1826). Farmer. Living at Netherton near Clatt in the census of 1851 (identified as the brother of Marjory Booth, q.v.).
