Biography

The heirs of John Tracey were shown as owners of Liberty Hill and Weir Hill in St Ann Jamaica from 1785 onwards. The estate of John Tracey owned 122 enslaved people and 28 stock in St Ann, Jamaica, in 1792. John Tracey was a resident slave-owner - he had been a Magistrate in St Ann in 1784 - for whom no will or death-date has yet been found. He appears in the will of Abraham Hodgson, who recorded that the executors and trustees of John Tracey had lent him [Hodgson] £6000 which was still outstanding in 1833 when Hodgson made his will.
