Biography

Susannah Slatford married first Hampson Thomas, then Matthew Powell (an army physician in Jamaica, alive in 1780 but deceased by 1783) and finally Henry Deaves. Shown variously as of Britain and Ireland 1797-1804, but not yet further traced.

  1. The creditors of Henry Deaves formerly of Hontown County Wexford and late of the Swan with two Necks, Lad Lane, London and late prisoner for debt in the Giltspur Street Compter, from which he had been released, were called to a meeting 28/06/1814.

Sources

The will of Susanna Deaves of Carey Street, St Clement Danes proved 09/01/1794 appears unconnected. Among other smaller monetary legacies, this woman left £2000 in consols to her brother [sic] Richard Deaves, and £1000 to Mr Charles Grooby. Her residuary legatee was Thomas Payne of Brook Street son of her cousin Thomas Payne of Newcastle, PROB 11/240/222.
