Gilbert Fleming

1. Will of Honourable Gilbert Fleming, Lieutenant-General of HM's Leeward Islands [now residing in London] proved 04/03/1762. He subjected his Salt Ponds estate 'with the negroes and stock thereto belonging' as additional security for the annuity of £500 p.a. to his wife Ann if Shadwell was insufficient to support it. He had an estate also in Tortola which he charged with monetary legacies to his grand-daughters. He left his son Gilbert his residual estate.

2. Gilbert Fleming and five other 'merchants' of St Kitts (Robert Colhoun; John and William Halliday; George Douglas; and Francis Phillips) were shown in 1758 as owners of a ship named Tankerville, which has a slaving voyage recorded in 1759 in the TASTDB as originating in London and landing in St Kitts with no details of the owners but with the same master (David Adam) as the 1758 ship.
