Alexander Grant Dallas

Biography

Alexander Grant Dallas (1816-1882), born in Berbice, son of Murdoch Dallas (q.v.) and colonist in Canada. Joined Jardine Matheson, was later a director of the Hudsons Bay Company, married Jane Douglas the daughter of James Douglas, the man of colour who became Governor of Vancouver Island in Canada, and himself appears in the Dictionary of Canadian Biography as 'HBC administrator and businessman.'
