Rev. Scawen Kenrick Gibbons I

Biography

Son of Sir John Gibbons, 2nd Bt. and Martha Kenrick, and father of Scawen Kenrick Gibbons II. He had married Christian Skeete, 20 March 1783, St Peter, Barbados. He inherited £10,000 currency under the will of his grandfather Sir William Gibbons 1st bart.

  1. Will of Scawen Kenrick Gibbons of Bath [made 11/10/1800] proved 17/07/1801. In the will he left his Morgan Lewis estate [and the enslaved people attached to it] in Barbados in trust to fund for his wife Christian £50 p.a. plus £30 every half year for each dependent daughter and £40 per half-year for each dependent son. He left £1000 each to his [unnamed] daughters and to two sons, Francis Edward Gibbons and Henry Ashley Gibbons, again to be paid from Morgan Lewis estate, which he left subject to these legacies and annuities to his son Scawen Kenrick Gibbons [II].
