Henry Bishop

???? - 1781

Biography

In a List of inhabitants of St Peter, Barbados, 1780, Bishop was listed as owning 21 enslaved.

  1. Will of Henry Bishop of [the town of Speights in the parish of] St Peter Barbados proved 09/05/1781. He ordered that £5000 be put in the funds to meet encumbrances on his plantation called Reids Bay, which he left to his son John Bishop. He left the residue of his estate to his son the Hon. William Bishop, except for 10 acres on Jeeves which he left to John. In codicil of 1780, presumably because of illness of William, Henry Bishop provided that if William predeceased him, then the inheritance would go to William's son John Braithwaite Bishop.
