Edward Owen of the parish of Manchester, Jamaica.

Out of a certain sum of money funded in Great Britain, £7,000 sterling in stock to my dear daughter Eliza and the same to my dear daughter Maria in trust for their benefit. The interest to pay for their support and maintenance.

To my dear wife Anne now in England £5,000 sterling in stock. Should these sums not be on hand, the sums should come from the proceeds of my estate.

My son Edward Owen now of the University of Oxford all my real and personal estate whatsoever in Jamaica or elsewhere at age 21 after paying my just debts and to his mother an annuity of £300 per annum for life.

Executor to be George Brooks of Manchester, Jamaica.

Humphry Owen my brother, Thomas James my nephew, Jarah Jacintha Owen my sister and my dear wife Anne to be trustees and guardians of my children during their minorities.

Codicil dated 02/04/1831. Having imperfectly manumitted two children of colour I do by this fully manumit them - named Murphy alias Humphreey, the son of a woman named Grace, the other Thomas the son of a woman named Elrice both belonging to Kingsland plantation. The two children to be provided for out of my estate, the eldest be at once placed as an apprentice to some good trade in town for which the annual sum not exceeding £30 be allowed; Thomas to be allowed £15 per year for schooling and clothes until fit to do a trade also then to be apprenticed as his brother. Also to each of the boys a filly and on reaching the age of 21 years £100 each to set them up in life. William Turner and Thomas Mason both of St Elizabeth to also be executors.
