John Blackburn

Robert Briggs on behalf of the heirs of John Blackburn registered 44 enslaved people in Antigua in 1824.

1. This appears to be the same man as the MP John Blackburn of Preston Candover who died 09/06/1824 and administration of whose will was granted 14/02/1825. Although the will does not mention Antiguan [or Dominican] property, it has John Thompson as an executor, while Philip Lyne (q.v.) was granted administration of the will as creditor, thus associating the will with the Chancery suit of Lyne v Thompson for the Villa estate on Antigua.

2. A London merchant, and MP for Aldborough 1797-1802 and Newport Isle of Wight 1802-1806.
