Biography

Father of John Campbell of New Hope.

Colin Campbell was listed in the Jamaican Quit Rent books for 1754 as the owner of 1555 acres of land in St Elizabeth.

Colin Campbell of Westmoreland, planter. Estate probated in Jamaica in 1761. Slave-ownership at probate: 131 of whom 70 were listed as male and 61 as female. 21 were listed as boys, girls or children. Total value of estate at probate: £49163.12 Jamaican currency of which £8450 currency was the value of enslaved people. Estate valuation included £400 currency cash, £35256.59 currency debts and £92.76 currency plate.
