Biography

Slave-owner in Hanover, Jamaica, owner of Rose Hill estate. Baptised, at Canonbie, Dumfries, Scotland, 09/12/1759. Buried in Hanover, Jamaica, 16/06/1830.

  1. Robert Chisholm, age 65, white, was living at Rose Hill in 1823. He is the only person listed on this estate in the 'Census of the White & Brown inhabitants & other Persons of Free Condition of the Parish of Hanover'.

  2. Overseer and Attorney to William Miles and Philip John Miles for the Richmond, Batchelors Hall, and Prosper Estates.

  3. Possibly the father of Mary Robert Chisholm (q.v.), "a mestee child 3 years old" who was baptised at Rose Hill, 16/05/1813. Mary Robert Chisholm registered the ownership of two enslaved people in Hanover in 1829 "By purchase @ Publick Sale at Montego Bay by Robert Chisholm and Conveyed to me by him..."
