Biography

Slave-owner in Jamaica, apparently resident. Mary Ann Schaw, "Free mulatto" woman, was baptised in 1817 at Chelsea estate, Hanover along with five of her children with Robert Kerr (owner of Chelsea): Jane, Anne Catharine, James Schaw, Robert Allen and Euphemia. Robert Kerr, age 51, white, living at Chelsea in the Hanover census of 1823 with his long-term partner Mary Ann Schaw, "mulatto", age 41, and their children Robert Allan Kerr, age 18, Euphemia Kerr, age 16 and James Kerr age 1. Also present was Margaret Ann Camplin, age 6, "white by law". Deceased by 1826.
