Biography

4th child of Mayer Amschel Rothschild (1744-1812) and Gutle Schnapper (1753-1849). Banker and financier; arranged the £20 million government loan which financed the slave compensation process. His executors were awarded part of the compensation for Matthews estate in Antigua on the basis of a mortgage.
