Partner in Sampson, Ainslie & Co. of Pamplemousses. Awarded the compensation for several claims in Mauritius. He was the principal in one of the first reported contracts for indentured labourers from south Asia for Mauritius - the 'Dhanghur Coolies' - in 1835. By 1851 he was dead and his family were in England, Sarah Sampson widow aged 40 living at West Street Fareham Hampshire with two daughters and a son, all born Mauritius. The older daughter Sophia, aged 20 in 1851, married in London in 1856.
