Biography

Major Charles Schaw, son of Frances Newton Jarrett (1766-1837) and her first husband Charles Schaw (died 1794) of Schawfield. Probably the Charles Schaw shown as co-owner of Schawfield 1800-1811.

  1.  Born Jamaica 10/10/1785. Educated Eton, a soldier who fought in the Peninsular Wars, married Anne or Anna Frances Cockburn in Jamaica June 1815. Appointed a police magistrate in Van Diemen's Land [Tasmania] 1833. Returned to England c. 1858, died Torquay 05/03/1874, leaving £800.
