Biography

A French woman she was the widow of William Bryant Worrell (who died at Rouen in 1832) and sister-in-law of Jonathan and Septimus Worrell (each of whom q.v.).

  1. William Bryant Worrell, son of Jonathan Worrell (1734-1814), left Barbados for England c. 1789, trained as a barrister, and then moved to France, where he died in 1832. He married Marie Anne Elizabeth Catherine Amand, at an unknown date. Of his Barbados property, only Sturges remained in 1832 of his inheritance from his mother: from his father he reportedly inherited Neils, The Spring and The Hill, but nothing has been traced of these in the compensation records to date. Marie Worrell was not permitted to inherit her husband's estates, being 'deemed an alien', and Sturges, Neils and The Hill were sold in 1840.
She died in Rouen, 21 April 1853. There were no children of the marriage.
