Bequeathed by Mary Ruthven in trust to all four of her children in equal shares. Her trustees were instructed to sell her residuary estate at a time when it was beneficial for her children to do so, and to invest the proceeds in government stocks or securities. Mary Ruthven died in 1825 but her will was not proved until 1829. Her will mentions money due to her from 'Negro labour' on Belmont estate in Trelawney, suggesting this group of enslaved people were settled there.
