Student Prizes

UCL Laws awards prizes to students who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement.

Each of our prizes are made possible through the generous support of a wide range of sponsors and benefactors, including legal firms and alumni who maintain strong links with UCL Laws and who recognise the excellence of our students.

The prizes are usually selected and awarded based on the top performing students in certain module or degree results, or on these results together with other aspects of a student's progress or contribution to the Faculty and UCL.

Examples of prizes we have awarded in previous years include:

  • Bentham Prize for Jurisprudence
  • CIArb Prize for International Arbitration
  • Faculty Research Prize
  • IBIL LLB Prize for best performance in Intellectual Property Law module

Prizewinners Ceremony

The Prizewinners Ceremony is one of the highlights of the academic year, and provides an opportunity for members across the Faculty to come together and celebrate our students’ achievements.  The event also recognises the students who have been awarded a scholarship due to their high academic attainment.

Prizewinners are determined in the next academic year after all results from the prior year have been awarded.  Students who have been selected for a prize will be contacted by the Faculty and invited to the Prizewinners' Ceremony in the year following their achievement (in many cases this could be after graduation has taken place).
