Senior Teaching Fellow
Dr Francisco de la Peña Fernández-Garnelo is a specialist in the law of mergers and acquisitions. His main areas of expertise include corporate finance, merger control and regulation. He has an interest in the energy and financial services sectors.
Francisco holds an LLB from the University of Navarre, an LLM from the LSE, a PhD from King's College London and an MBA from the University of Cambridge. He is dual qualified in both England and Wales, and Madrid and has practised in Brussels, London and Paris. He has served as director on the boards of both private and public companies. Dr Francisco de la Peña has been affiliated to UCL Laws since 2004. He is a member of the Advisory Board at the UCL Centre for Ethics and Law.
From 2004 through to 2008 Francisco contributed to the Legal Aspects of International Finance LLM Course, and from 2008 to 2012, he founded and convened the Cross-Border Mergers and Acquisitions LLM Course.
Francisco contributes to the undergraduate course Laws’ Connections: Legal Doctrine and Contemporary Challenges.
From 2013 Francisco has lectured on IPOs (Company Law LLM module), takeovers and merger arbitrage (Corporate Finance LLM module), and hedge fund regulation (Regulation of Financial Markets LLM module).
