On Monday 8 April, UCL competed against Imperial College London in the final of University Challenge. The hugely popular BBC quiz show is now in its 53rd series and is hosted by Amol Rajan.

With two major London universities making it to the final, this marks the first final in the series’ history without an Oxford or Cambridge college team competing.

Imperial College London secured victory, scoring 285 points over UCL's 120.

There was an outpouring of support for the UCL team online and on campus, with students and staff across the UCL community gathering at the Institute of Education to watch a live screening. Tayana said: “Our community's support means everything to us. It's incredibly motivating to know that we have the backing of our peers!”

Comiserations to James, Tayana, Jacob and Ali - they performed brilliantly throughout the series and we're proud to have them represent UCL!
