Research by Prof Scotford cited in IPCC report on Climate Change 2022: Mitigation of Climate Change

Professor Scotford’s research on climate laws has been cited in the latest IPCC report.
Climate Change 2022: Mitigation of Climate Change, published last month by the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), warns that urgent action is required in order to halve emissions by 2030.
The Working Group III report provides an updated global assessment of climate change mitigation progress and pledges, and examines the sources of global emissions. It explains developments in emission reduction and mitigation efforts, assessing the impact of national climate pledges in relation to long-term emissions goals.
The report has cited papers co-authored by Professor Eloise Scotford (Professor of Environmental Law at UCL Laws) – specifically on how national laws set the legal foundation for climate action. Professor Scotford’s research has analysed the intricate legal and policy dimensions of national climate change legislation; and studied the legal disruption raised by climate change.
