Dr Alan Brener speaks at an event on 'Transforming Civil Society Engagement with Financial Services'

28 June 2022

Further information is available on the event's website.

The Financial Innovation Lab and the Chartered Banker Institute are co-hosting an online event on 5th July to raise awareness of the need to support the voice of citizens in decision making in financial services. This follows the Treasury's paper, 'Financial Services Future Regulatory Framework Review: Proposals for Reform' issued towards the end of last year.

The event will be chaired by Maloes Nicholls whose role at the Financial Innovation Lab is to increase consumer engagement with a focus on social and environmental purpose.

Alan is speaking on the importance of banks retaining some prominent local presence in towns across the country to help sustain and develop local communities who might otherwise be neglected and left 'unvoiced'.'

Notes:

The Finance Innovation Lab aims 'to transform the financial system for people and planet.  We cultivate a community of systems-changemakers and work on initiatives that impact mental models and power dynamics in finance for deep, lasting change. Our work focuses on growing purpose-driven finance, shifting mainstream finance, influencing law, regulation and policy, and building our community.'

The Chartered Banker Institute is based in Edinburgh and it 'is a global professional education body for bankers... Established by Royal Charter, we are a not-for-profit educational charity with a mission to enhance and sustain socially purposeful, responsible, professional banking in the public interest.  We do this by developing and supporting bankers’ education and professional development throughout their careers'.
