UCL Law Society named 'Best society for first-year students' at Student Law Society Awards
17 March 2020
The UCL Undergraduate Law Society won the award for the second consecutive year.
On 12 March 2020, the sixth annual LawCareers.Net Student Law Society Awards, sponsored by BARBRI, celebrated the hard work of student law societies at universities across the UK.
The event recognises the dedication of student committees offering their members innovative careers events and comprehensive pro bono and mooting activities, alongside more traditional opportunities to socialise with their peers. With 28 student law societies attending alongside 14 sponsor law firms, the aim of the evening was to showcase the diligence and passion of student law society members, committees and presidents, as well as to present the winners of our 13 awards.
The undergraduate UCL Law Society won the award for Best society for first-year students, sponsored by Burges Salmon LLP. The UCL Law Society also took home the same award in 2019.
The UCL Law Society plays a vital role within the UCL Laws student experience, and is run by a committee elected annually by the student body. The Society facilities a range of events and activities, including networking, mooting, socials, and careers events.
Bethany Wren, content and events manager at LawCareers.Net, commented: “Student law societies are really crucial places for members to develop their knowledge and skills, and support one another to make progress on their legal career paths. In each and every category this year we were blown away by the wealth of passion, ingenuity and focus that goes into what the nominated societies do.”
