UCL Laws pays tribute to Julian Farrand

28 July 2020

UCL Laws is saddened to hear of the passing of Julian Farrand, former UCL alumnus.

Outside of Bentham House

Julian had a long career in the legal profession spanning several decades. Julian was formerly a Professor of Law at the University of Manchester. He was appointed a Law Commissioner in 1984 before becoming the Pensions Ombudsman.

Remembering Julian, Rodney Austin said: “I am truly sorry to hear about Julian's passing. Julian was always such a lovely, pleasant and witty person to be around.”

Jacqueline Dyson said: “Julian was an outstanding property lawyer. In addition, he was interesting, good fun and always had a twinkle in his eye.”

Our thoughts are with Lady Hale and her family during this difficult time.
