Professor Dame Hazel Genn appointed as UCL Vice Provost International & Advancement

30 July 2020

Professor Dame Hazel Genn, former Dean of UCL Laws (2008-2017), will take on the role with effect from 17 August 2020.

Professor Dame Hazel Genn

Professor Dame Hazel Genn, Professor of Socio-Legal Studies at UCL Laws and Director of the UCL Centre for Access to Justice, has been appointed as UCL Vice Provost International & Advancement.

This follows Dame Nicola Brewer’s decision to step down in September after serving for over six years as Vice Provost International and more recently supporting the Office of the Vice-Provost Advancement during Lori Houlihan’s absence due to ill health and then retirement.

UCL Council approved the proposal for Hazel’s appointment as Vice Provost International & Advancement on 9 July 2020 on an interim basis, pending a permanent recruitment process to be instituted in due course.

Since the beginning of April 2020 Hazel has been serving at UCL senior management level, leading on Public Affairs for the Provost. Her previous service as Pro Vice-Provost Alumni (2017-20) and Pro Vice-Provost International (2019-20) will be invaluable in leading forward these two critical areas of UCL activity.

UCL Faculty of Laws would like to wish Professor Genn every success in her new Vice Provost role.
