Professor Montgomery discussed the impact of the £2million fine on funding for care, the importance of NHS accountability, why the case was so serious, and the system that the NHS has now introduced (based in the airline industry) of a Healthcare Safety Investigation Branch.

Professor Montgomery was a member of the expert advisory group that led to the establishment of the HSIB.
