Professor Virginia Mantouvalou speaks on ‘The Capability Approach Meets Labour Law’

Professor Virginia Mantouvalou, Professor of Human Rights and Labour Law at UCL Faculty of Laws, spoke at an international conference on ‘The Capability Approach Meets Labour Law’, at the University of Toronto on 20-21 October.

Professor Mantouvalou examined the right to work in her talk, and argued that the right should be understood not only as a right to non-exploitative work, but also as a right to meaningful work. To support her argument, she relied on the theory of capabilities of Professor Martha Nussbaum. The papers of the conference will be published in 2018.
