Dr John Sorabji speaks at international conference in Rio de Janerio on Brazil’s new procedure code

Dr John Sorabji, Judicial Institute Fellow at the UCL Faculty of Laws and convenor of the Principles of Civil Justice and Alternative Dispute Resolution LLM courses, was an invited speaker at an international conference in Rio de Janerio, Brazil, organized by the Instituto Brasileiro de Direito Processual.

The conference examined Brazil’s innovative new Code of Civil Procedure. Dr Sorabji’s paper considered the application of the doctrine of precedent in Brazil’s new Code. In particular, it considered what can be learnt from the doctrine’s operation in England and Wales and what steps may need to be taken to ensure its incorporation is a success.
