UCL Laws welcomes announcement of Supreme Court appointments

24 July 2017

UCL Laws is delighted to hear the news that Baroness Hale has been appointed next President of the Supreme Court, and that Lady Justice Black, Lord Justice Lloyd Jones and Lord Justice Briggs will all join the Supreme Court as Justices.

Baroness Hale will succeed Lord Neuberger in the role, and all four appointments will be sworn in at a ceremony in October.

Professor Dame Hazel Genn, Dean of UCL Laws said:

‘We offer our sincere congratulations to Baroness Hale, Lady Justice Black, Lord Justice Lloyd Jones and Lord Justice Briggs.

As a Faculty we have appreciated the great support that both Lady Hale and Lady Justice Black have offered us over the years, and as I have enjoyed working closely with Lord Justice Briggs in the past I know that all four will bring great value to the roles.

We wish Lord Neuberger well, and look forward to seeing all four Justices take the next step in their already remarkable legal careers.’
