Professor Jonathan Montgomery chairs task and finish group for General Medical Council

Jonathan Montgomery, Professor of Health Care Law at UCL Faculty of Laws, chaired the task and finish group for the General Medical Council that led to new guidance on confidentiality being issued today.

The new advice takers into account technological developments, changes in the way in which health services are organized, the concerns of doctors for clarity on tricky issues and the expectations of patients (as elicited from various consultation and deliberative expertise).
