Dr Ilanah Fhima speaks at European Community Trademark Association workshop in Vilnius
12 December 2017
Dr Ilanah Fhima, Reader in Intellectual Property Law at UCL Faculty of Laws, spoke at a European Community Trademark workshop in Vilnius on 7 December 2017.
The workshop was focused on ‘Use of a trade mark in a form differing from the one registered’ and ‘How protected are words in a combination mark?’
Dr Fhima said:
‘These two topics are so important for understanding how the European and national trade mark offices approach their analysis of marks and have been the subject-matter of recent convergence work.
It was particularly interesting to see how both use the same concepts of distinctive, dominant and negligible elements, but to answer very different questions.’
